Next no-call list deadline is Feb. 28

Wisconsin residents have until Feb. 28 to sign up for the latest
rendition of the no-call list, the state's free service that
drastically reduces the amount of telemarketing calls going to a
phone number.
The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer
Protection (DATCP) said residents putting their phone numbers on
the list before March 1 will be added to the newest list which goes
into effect on April 1.
The list isn't just for land line phones; cell phone numbers can
also be added.
Putting a phone number on the list isn't a permanent thing,
however. Consumers have to sign up every 2 years to keep numbers on
the list.
If you are not certain you signed up within the last 2 years,
you should sign up again to be sure you are not dropped from the
list.
"We currently have more than 2.1 million phone numbers on the
no-call list," said Janet Jenkins, administrator of the Trade and
Consumer Protection Division of DATCP.
Of that total, cell phone numbers make up about 44 percent of
the numbers on the no-call list.
